The new GI Bill

Not all Vets will be able to use the GI Bill.

Memorial Day 2008, RIP all Veterans who have died for this country.

It is Memorial Day and the legislative branches of the United States Government are in the final stages of enacting the New GI Bill. Any soldier who has served 3 years on Active Duty, since 9/11, which many of us Veterans have, are eligible.

The New York Times has had a number of Op Eds on this subject, to include one today. The "greatest generation" would not have been as great in a post WW 2 world if not for this legislation. On an anniversary of this historic event a few years ago, the then under secretary of Veterans Affairs for benefits said...

I don't understand why certain Republicans, the party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt (before his Bull Moose party), wouldn't advacate this bill, but they didn't. Fortunately, many of them did and it looks as if it is a lock to pass. This vet said it very well!

I think this speaks for many of the Veterans who are looking past their military service and mulitple deployments!
