Citizen Murdock says the internet is media golden age

He is right too!

I have to admit, the man who is the head of Fox News and the New York Post isn't someone who is on my hero list. Yet, this is a guy who does come into ones radar.

I know him mainly 'cause when I worked at the New York Post, he was the boss, he owes myspace and his messy falling out with his son, Lachlan. His son, walks away from being groomed for the throne; not a easy move but good for him. He has a couple of kids, married a model and lives like a prince; who needs the bullshit of corporate life? It isn't like he is going to miss any meals or worry about paying a mortgage.
The NYT article goes on to say...

The site combines the social networking of Friendster, the photo posting of Flickr, the invitation function of Evite, the classifieds of Craig's List, the brutal measurement of Hot or Not and the dating possibilities of Match.com. Users relentlessly check their rankings - the most searched guys and gals, based almost exclusively on their photos - to see how many new friends they have made and where they rate in the digital clubhouse. The site is a testament to the power to the power of small affinity groups, which can scale pretty quickly once everyone is on the same network.

Here is the quote that I like...

At $580 million, the two-year old site was hardly a bargain.

He is the boss of my first friend on myspace...

So if runs the Wall Street Journal, I could care less. I do watch Fox News, The Simspons, 24 and have a myspace account. This guy has the money and the vision to make a major impact on the world and that ought to put him on every ones radar.
